My 2016 Resolutions: Looking Back

When I kicked off the year with the intention of making it the greatest year ever, I was full of hope, maybe a bit of delusion. So how did I far 6 months in? If I could start all over again, what would I change? Taking some steps into improving your life is not easy but well worth it. Here are my top 2016 resolutions and the impact it had on my life.

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person, or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” – Barack Obama

Save More Money

Wow I didn’t pick the easiest resolution to start with. Hell, even eating healthier sounds more fun than cut my expenses and earn more cash. It was actually pretty easy to cut down on spending in the first few months. Winter made it harder to go out to eat and drinks, so I focused on home cooking. I’ve also stopping visiting local casinos and started playing on my Iphone instead. I really like the Zodiac Casino app as it allows me to save money on transportation and drinks.

Meditate Everyday

“Meditation is a way for nourishing and blossoming the divinity within you” – Amit Ray

Before 2016, my only experience with mediation happened during an intense session of hot yoga. The teacher just gave directions but I was too busy wondering what I would buy for dinner that I missed the supposedly deep emotional awakening that was promised by meditation. Well I’m proud to say that I’ve fallen in love with meditation, will even go as far as saying we’re soulmates! It only takes 10 minutes a day and it brings me so much joy and inner peace. Without a doubt it’s the best gift you can give to yourself. Start today and you won’t regret it.

Take Care of Your Body

“Respect your body. Eat well. Dance forever.” ― Eliza Gaynor Minden

Without realising it, I’ve been neglecting my body and overall health for years. I’ve suffered from an injury that does not heal and frankly, I had given up any hope of a cure. Boy was I wrong, with the help of a fantastic team of chiropractor, personal trainers, and dietitian I feel the best I’ve been in over ten years. My advice would be to not give up, keep searching for the people that can help you. In any circumstances, your health goes on first. The rest can wait.…

4 Dupes for High-End Products

In my effort to reduce my expenses and live a more frugal life, I’ve had to say goodbye to the high end products that I love. It doesn’t mean that I’ve stopped spending money altogether. It forced me to find creative alternatives to my lifestyle. It wasn’t easy but my finances are much better for it. Here are my favourite dupes of various products that will hopefully make you save some money.

1. Going to the movie/Watching TV –> Netflix

I’ve stopped my cable subscription a few months ago and I’ve made a pledge with my friends that we won’t go to the movies until further notice. Why? Because that thing is EXPANSIVE! If you’re lucky, you’re paying $50 per month for cable and $12 per movie tickets. It may not sound that expansive but cumulatively that’s hundreds of dollars per year. You’re much better off switching to Netflix for $10/month for all your favourite TV series and movies. It’s dangerous because binge watching is OH so fun, but if you want to save money that’s the best alternative for you.

2. Clothes Shopping –> 2nd Hand Swap

An environmentalist friend from college introduced me to the concept of second hand clothe swap. It works like this: gather a group of friends, the more the merrier, and organise one day where everyone brings 10 items of clothing they do not want anymore. Everyone ends up finding new pieces to their taste, get rid of unwanted articles and the best part is that it’s free

3. Make-Up and Hair Products –> DIY

At the beginning, it wasn’t so hard to stop purchasing makeup and hair products. I had such a vast collection that it took months (even years in some case) before I felt the need to purchase anything. Interestingly, I found that most products can be replaced by food items already in your kitchen. For face and hair mask, I use coconut oil, eggs and sugar. To replace blush, I pinch my cheeks to give me that natural glowing look.

4. Casino trips –> Mobile Casino App

Gambling is a side passion of mine, I used to go a couple times a month to the casino. Getting all dolled up, bringing my friends and hitting the town was the norm. Ever since I’ve made the switch to online casinos, I’ve saved myself hundreds of dollars per years in taxis, alcohol, food and even casino chips! That’s because mobile app offer advantageous bonus for new players, you don’t have to play with a lot of money to get the full gambling experience at Zodiac Casino.…

July 2016 Monthly Favourites

Phew can you believe how fast July went? Hope you had as much fun as I did, lots of time spent with friends and my workout routine has really improved (I can do 5 push-ups! *self-five* With the summer halfway over, I thought it would be a great opportunity to look over this month’s favourite things. Comment below your favourite, I want to read all about it!

Blue DressPastel Blue Summer Dress

This pastel blue beautiful dress has been my go to outfit for the entire month, whether I’m doing the groceries or shopping with my girlfriends. As you can probably tell the fabric is not too heavy and lets my body breathe. You can easily pair it with white sandals and silvery accessories. You can find that style at H&M but I prefer browsing the local thrift shop. That’s my effort to be eco-friendly and dress for less money.

Brown Leathery WedgesBrown Wedges

What a blast from the past! Every time I wear them, I feel like a disco queen on my way to Woodstock or Studio 54. There is a retro feel to it yet with a modern touch. Plus the 3 inch heels are pretty comfortable to walk around, gives me quite a boost – with it I’m almost 6 feet tall. These go well with a straight laced pair of jeans or a maxi dress.

Game of Thrones Slot Machine

Now you know how addicted to Game of Thrones I was. I didn’t know what to do with myself until next season airs. That’s why I found this neat little game about Game of Thrones at Zodiac Casino. I play a few minutes a day, it relaxes me.

Chai Tea with Milk

I don’t know about you but I reduce my consumption of coffee during summer. It’s like I can’t take in as much caffeine, the sun is already giving me a boost. I’ve recently discovered Chai Tea with milk, it’s absolutely divine. The flavours! Makes me want to book a plane ticket to Mumbai tomorrow.

Romeo and Juliet

I’ve recently been to the Theatre to see a modern adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. It was passionate, dramatic and inappropriate (they are teenagers and 10 people die for their love story). Still it gave me the idea to reread this classic and fall in love again with the story. There is no denying, Shakespeare is the bomb!
